March 7, 2017: Ditch the Plastic Straws

Remember we told you that living green is all about small, gradual changes and being aware of how your lifestyle impacts the environment? Well, here's today's challenge... Stop using plastic straws!
Start off by ditching the straws at home and work your way up to refusing straws when you go out. So what do you use instead? So glad you asked. Try a bamboo or stainless steel reusable straw and see which you prefer.
Oh.. and you're in luck because we're here to help. Stay tuned for our upcoming bamboo straw giveaway as part of our Spring Customer Appreciation!

February 20, 2017: What To Do With Those Fading Valentine's Day Flowers

Six days later and those flowers are not looking as fresh as they did on Valentine's Day. It seems like such a waste to throw them away in a few days. Funny enough, this is the same rationale my husband uses to justify not buying fresh-cut flowers for me more often. He says they die too quickly and it's just a waste of money. So he prefers to buy plants instead.
I usually just hang my flowers upside down to dry and then put them back in a vase and keep them for a few weeks or months more. There are other options to preserve your flowers if you are not as lazy as I am. So here's an article from Readers Digest with a few ideas that I will never have time to try until my house is toddler-free!

    February 11, 2017: You Don't Need to Buy a Gift for Valentine's Day... Cont'd

We're back with more reasons why you shouldn't buy a Valentine gift this year. Well, it's more like we don't want you to just buy the traditional gifts. Yes, yes... we said it a few days ago... we know those gifts are what we sell! But we also know that there are so many more options to rock your Valentine's world.
Today's idea... the gift of no housework! Forget the spa gift box. If you know that your spouse does most (or all) of the cleaning and tidying, how about hiring a cleaning service. It's amazing how much more energy you have for other activities (hint, hint) when you don't have to clean the toilet and mop the floors.

    February 7, 2017: You Don't Need to Buy a Gift for Valentine's Day... Cont'd

It's all about showing love and making them feel special. Who doesn't like to be pampered? Here's the key... Pampering doesn't have to entail a massage or whatever spa-like treatment you see on those vacation commercials. You pamper them with what they like. You pamper them by doing something they really want. Indulge them. Just make them happy.
So it may be as simple as washing the car or getting it detailed... or giving them four uninterrupted hours to watch four episodes of their favorite show on Netflix.
You know what they want. Don't Google for ideas. You got this.
More to come. We'll be here all week!
